Children are the hardest hit by poverty. Of the 2.2 billion children in our
world today almost half of them live in appalling conditions. But it is these
children who have the potential to break the cycle of deprivation for future
generations. They are the teachers, doctors, journalists engineers and
politicians of the future.

ABC Childrenīs Aid has over 20 years' of experience of working with the
world's poorest children, and
now supports around 11.000 poor children with
education, medical help, food and clothing. Almost 4000 of them receive full
support and housing in ABC homes. Our aim is to change their future, by
offering them a hand-up out of poverty. Rather than offering them a
short-term hand-out, ABC seeks to make a long-term difference by offering
free education that is of the highest possible standard. As the children get
older, the education includes vocational and technical education, designed to
train the children in ways which will lead them to self-sufficiency. The school
programme includes giving free health-care and one nutritious meal each day to
all of the children who attend. ABC children's aid also sets up and runs
children's homes where necessary, to provide a stable and loving home for those
children that have no family of their own to bring them up.
ABC Children's Aid was founded in 1988 in Iceland, as a charitable, non-profit
organisation, where it now donates more money to children's projects oversees
than any other aid organisation in Iceland apart from the Red Cross and Unicef.
It has since become a multi-national organisation, and now raises money for the
world's poorest children in the USA, the UK, and the Faroe Islands. ABC plans
to register in other European countries in the near future.

ABC children's aid is set up as a non-profit making, charitable institution in
every country where it operates,. Each support-raising country is financially
independent, and submits its annual accounts to the relevant tax office in each
country in which it is registered

ABC Children's Aid finds its motivation from Christian principles, especially
from the commandment to love your neighbor as you love yourself and to carry
each other's burdens. It seeks to work in close partnership with local people
across the developing world, empowering them to change their own communities
by helping the next generation to step up out of
